Hi, I am Nicole Newbold.

I live in Forest Town, Nottinghamshire with my husband Sam (the one with the fuzzy face in the photo above - in case you were wondering!) our two puppies, Apollo & Shelby and prickly love ball, Holly the Hedgehog. When i'm not photographing, i'm usually somewhere enjoying our converted Volkswagen T5 camper van, fulfilling my wanderlust. I love travelling and seeing new things. I enjoy the simple things in life and would be happiest next to the beach, watching the waves crash amongst the rocks.

One of the most common questions I get asked is ‘How did you get into photography?”… Honestly, I can't say "at the age of 5, I had a camera glued to my hand", I was actually more into storytelling and reading as a child. My passion for photography didn't begin until 2007. My love for photography began unexpectedly when I chose it as an A-Level topic, purely as a wildcard to break up 'boring' academic subjects. The more I engrossed myself in the world of photography, the more I found myself, with each click I began to see the world from a different perspective, I saw beauty in things that I had been surrounded by all along but never looked quite close enough to fully appreciate. Photography soon turned into more than just a 'career' or 'hobby'. Photography enabled me to freeze time, build my own confidence, tell stories, meet great people and create my own world.

My love for photography grew and grew throughout my 2 years studying at A-Level and I knew that photography and media was the path I needed to follow. Therefore, I put my academic dreams of being a midwife or a teacher to the side to continue my studies at De Montfort University (BSc Media Production course). It was a journey that I have never regretted. Through photography I have been awarded academic scholarships, graduated with a 2:1 honours degree and trained with the BBC. I never knew back then it would lead me to where I am today and honestly, I actually thought I was a little crazy! But I am so thankful that I took a chance on photography as today I am doing what I absolutely love and leave every wedding with fulfilment & joy.

I have been fortunate enough to have worked alongside many wonderful families, brides, grooms, charities, projects and even extremely successful creatives within the BBC (including loose women presenters, top gear producers, Eastenders editors - Ok, ok i'll stop!). In 2012 I was also awarded a place on the Enterprise Inc scheme which gave me a great chance to work alongside some of the best Entrepreneurs in the Midlands.

However, the turning point for me was when I became Mrs Newbold (August 2016), after years of hearing (and witnessing) how quick weddings pass by, in a blur of emotion, it was only once I began walking down the aisle, arm in arm with my wonderful Father that I realised truly how important and necessary wedding photographs are. It made me take a second to reflect on the many weddings I had photographed and only then it hit me, just how important being a photographer really was - I mean, without my photographer I'm honestly not sure how much of the whirlwind I would have been able to remember, I don't know when there may have been a better opportunity to capture those I love and preserve those memories for life. I mean, being completely honest it's not every day that a) you have all of your family and friends in one place and b) they're all happy and getting along nicely! It made me realise how important it is to invest in a photographer you can trust, one who understands you and is able to tell the story of your wedding in a way which is beautiful, raw and timeless.
